Pill Popper

Growing up I watched my Mom pop pill after pill for and reason she could come up with. I later learned pill popping was just another one of her many drug addictions. It is also the only one of her drug addictions that I actually watched her partake in. At an early age I wanted nothing to do with pills. I even had a neck injury as a child and they sent me home from the hospital with pain medicine to take. I refused to take them. At that time I looked at my Mom and her need for pills all the time as a weakness. I refused to be as weak as her!!! Up until just a few years ago I had a really hard time taking medicine for headaches and colds. I would gladly suffer through things then be weak like my Mother.
Most of you know that I have had all my kids completely natural. Not even a Tylenol to dull some of the pain. Most people would probably think I chose that because of some benefit for me or the baby or one of those many other important reasons people choose natural childbirth. But not me. When I was pregnant with Drew I chose to have no drugs solely to be different from my Mom. I wanted nothing to do with any form of pain medicine cause to me (then) that meant weakness. That meant I would be like her.
Today things are a bit different. I no longer think taking pain medicine is a sign of weakness. I gladly take some Tylenol the second a headaches come on, and while I do still choose natural childbirth, it is for very different reason. But then lately…
Lately I have been SO incredibly sick from this pregnancy. I flat out can not hold most of my food down or even function with out the medicines my Mid-wife has me on. I have taken more pills in the last month then I’ve taken in my entire life. Probably even twice as many! This has been really hard on me emotionally. I have tried twice to stop taking the meds because I want so badly not to depend on them. But a couple days of no meds and I get really sick again. So back on the meds I go struggling not to believe that it makes me weak. Its funny how things we think we’ve worked through and are over, can quickly creep back in.
***Disclaimer: I want to be clear that these are issues that I have solely with myself and I in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM believe that others who take medicines are at all weak. I specifically want to address the Natural child birth topic since I do know this can be a sensitive subject with women. I completely believe what each person chooses is a very personal choice and I would never judge what anyone else chooses for themselves.

He's awesome!

This mornings conversation with Gus

Mom: Hey little bugger!
Gus: (he points at his nose) I got bugar?
Mom: No, your a little bugger.
Gus: (again pointing at his nose) I got bugar?
Mom: Oh, gus. You are cute!
Gus: I'm not cute. I'm awesome. (then he leaves the room)
That little guy is pretty darn awesome!

Flashback Friday: Pregnancy Past

The other day Clint and I were talking to the kids about the effects of pregnancy on a women's body. (mainly because of how sick they've had to see me) One of the other topic that came up was how wild a pregnant woman's emotions can get. We were quickly reminded of a funny story.

When I was pregnant with Drewanne I worked at a hair salon and blew dry my hair every morning. Well, my blow dryer cord was always getting tangled and driving me nuts. One particular morning my blow dryer cord sent me into an emotional outburst and a pool of tears.

Later that day when I came home from work, Clint had one of these waiting for me...

A Cord Keeper Blow Dryer

What a guy he is!!!

Just for fun

I saw this on Christie's blog and had to play along. Of course it is just for FUN, nothing more.

Madame Zaritska predicts your birth experience!

Madame Zaritska, using her mystical powers, has the following prediction:The day you deliver, outside will be cloudy. Your baby will arrive in the evening. After a labor lasting approximately 13 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 12 pounds, 6 ounces, and will be 20 inches long. This child will have medium hazel eyes and a lot of brown hair.

I'll have to agree w/ Madame Zaritska on a couple things...
I do think this one will be a girl, but Clint thinks it's a boy.
I also agree w/ 13 hours. My labors have gotten longer with each child. Drew was 6 1/2 hours, Lilly 8 1/2 and Gus was 11 hours. Seems to be going backwards for me so 13 seems about right.

BUT 12 pounds and 6 ounces!!!! I sure hope not.

Here's the LINK to play along. I'd love to see what the rest of you prego's come up with.

Right brain/Left brain

The girls and I learned an interesting fact yesterday that I just had to share.
The left side of the brain handles feelings of things we like. It sparks our love for someone, comfort, safety and happiness.

The right side of the brain handles things we don't like. It triggers fear, worry and sadness.

So my question is...

Do you think you spend most of your time using the left side of your brain or your right?
I wonder how this plays into being left handed verses right handed? (my guess is not much)

And since we're on the topic of brains.

A bit inappropriate and entirely untrue...BUT FUNNY!!!
